Free Resources
PGPresents encourages upcoming graduates, medical residents, and fellows to check out these free resources before you hire anyone (including PGPresents) to help you manage your student loan portfolio. While these sites do not really offer personalized help managing your loans, they may provide just the help you need:

www.NSLDS.ed.gov
  • The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) provides a cumulative listing of all your Title IV loans (Stafford, Grad PLUS, Consolidation, and Perkins), including information on your loan servicer(s).

www.AAMC.org/FIRST
  • The AAMC's Financial Information, Resources, Services, and Tools (FIRST) provides comprehensive information for medical residents on student loans, including repayment examples, loan repayment programs, and the new Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
  • PGPresents highly recommends this site for upcoming medical school graduates and current medical residents.

www.IBRinfo.org
  • This site is run by the nonprofit Project on Student Debt and provides not only information on Income Based Repayment (IBR), but a calculator to help determine eligibility and possible IBR payments.
  • The site also has FAQ's on IBR and the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, plus links to important information from the Department of Education on IBR and PSLF.

www.loanconsolidation.ed.gov
  • This is the federal government's online site for the Direct Consolidation Loan (DCL) program, the only consolidation option for borrowers interested in consolidating their eligible federal loans.
  • The site includes FAQ's that may help answer your questions about consolidation.
